CIO's Office
From processing driver’s licenses, conducting elections, testing water samples and providing insurance to low-income children to making sure that up-to-the-minute criminal histories are available to state troopers in their cars, OA-Information Technology’s work is a strong — but often invisible — thread through the government services delivered to Pennsylvania’s citizens.
In the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, OA serves 12.6 million citizens by supporting more than 76,000 employees across more than 40 state agencies, boards and commissions. OA includes OA-Information Technology, which coordinates an annual portfolio in excess of $1 billion in IT services for commonwealth government.
Strategic Plan
The IT Strategic Plan outlines the commonwealth's vision, mission, goals and objectives for information technology from 2012 through 2015. OA-Information Technology’s strategic goals are to:
- Expand and enhance the delivery of government services
- Facilitate efficient government operations
- Improve the management of the commonwealth’s IT infrastructure
- Increase transparency and public participation
- Establish an IT environmental sustainability program (go green)
- Support, enhance and better utilize the commonwealth’s IT workforce
- Develop and maintain strategic partnerships
- Reinvent the IT procurement process
- Ongoing innovation and transformation
- Improve IT governance

Under Executive Order 2011-5, OA-Information Technology has statewide oversight of:
- IT governance and strategic planning
- IT program management and business process integration
- IT project management and delivery
- IT procurement and contract management
- IT human resource management
- IT enterprise standards
- IT consolidation and services
- Telecommunications governance
