How to Register for a Username and Password

Public users: You do not need a personal login to view historic resource data using the CRGIS. Just go to the User Login page and click on either LOGIN.

Full access to archaeological site location data is open to cultural resource professionals who meet the Secretary of the Interior's Professional Qualification Standards with a specialty in prehistoric, historic and/or under water archaeology or geomorphology. Planning access is open to planning professionals whose job descriptions involve the regular development or evaluation of proposals for ground disturbing activities which may affect archaeological resources. Access will be granted to individuals, not agencies or companies, but requires authorization by a responsible employer.

Archaeologists:

If you are currently listed on BHP's archaeological consultant list:

  1. Read the CRGIS Data Quality Statement.
  2. Apply for temporary access by filling out the online application form. In the "Why do you need access" box, include "ON CONSULTANT LIST" as part of your rationale. Choose "Archaeological" as the Access type. You will be notified by email when 10 day temporary access has been established. 
  3. Print a copy of the Terms and Conditions. Read and sign it and send it by mail.

Permanent access will be established when this agreement is received and you will be notified by email.


If you are not currently listed on BHP's consultant list:

  1. Read the CRGIS Data Quality Statement. 
  2. Fill out the online application form. Choose the "Archaeological" Access type.  You will be notified by email when your temporary "General (Public)" access has been established.
  3. Print a copy of the Terms and Conditions. Read and sign it and send it by mail along with...
  4. A copy of your vita showing that you meet the Secretary of the Interior's Professional Qualification Standards as an archaeologist.

You will be notified by email when your full archaeological access has been established.

Planners: 

  1. Read the CRGIS Data Quality Statement. 
  2. Fill out the online application form. Choose the "Planning" Access type. Give a brief definition of your job responsibilities in the "Why do you need access" box. You will be notified by email when your temporary "General (Public)" access has been established. 
  3. Print a copy of the Terms and Conditions. Read and sign it and send it by mail. 
  4. Include documentation indicating why you qualify for access:a job description indicating that your position includes development or evaluation of plans that include ground disturbing activity and ...
  5. a letter from your agency or company justifying their need for information, indicating their willingness to abide by the Terms and Conditions of use, and requesting access for you. (An agency or company may send one letter requesting access for multiple planners.)

You will be notified by email when your Planning access has been established.
