Diabetes Nurse Consultants
The Pennsylvania Department of Health's Diabetes Control Program supports a staff of six diabetes nurse consultants. They offer education on diabetes to individuals, health care professionals, schools, prisons and other organizations. The nurse consultants work closely with a network of hospital-based diabetes education programs as well as the American Diabetes Association and others interested in diabetes issues. Diabetes Community Forums are coordinated through collaboration with local partners and County Diabetes Task Forces. The diabetes nurse consultants also provide technical assistance to program contractors and community-based health improvement initiatives.
