Non-Teaching Professionals/Specialists Evaluation Pilot
The Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) would like to announce the release of draft evaluation rubrics that will be piloted in the fall of 2013 with practitioners who are considered non-teaching professionals under Act 82 and who serve as Education Specialists and/or Licensed Professionals (optional). For the past two years, practitioners representing the disciplines of school psychology, school counseling, school nursing, dental hygiene, instructional technology, school social work, home-school visitors, behavior specialists, and occupational/physical therapy have worked on the development of their rubrics.
In the spring of 2013 a mini-pilot of the rubrics was conducted. The feedback from this pilot was incorporated into the rubrics that are being piloted in the fall of 2013. Feedback will continue to be solicited regarding the representativeness and relevance of the rubrics within the evaluation and professional learning process. PDE will make adjustments to the rubrics based on the feedback compiled from the pilot conducted in the fall of 2013.
Act 82 applies to non-teaching professionals in 2014-15. PDE will publish a rating tool for Non-Teaching Professionals in the Pennsylvania Bulletin by June 30, 2014.
