What Is EDI?

Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) involves the computer-to-computer exchange of data between companies and the commonwealth. EDI replaces paper forms with automated electronic transactions that are more efficient, reduces errors and virtually eliminates mailing costs.

Announcement:

Pennsylvania to Implement IAIABC EDI Release 3 in 2013
 
The Pennsylvania Department of Labor & Industry will begin implementing EDI transactions in the IAIABC Claims Release 3 format for FROI and SROI transactions in the coming months. Trading partners will be required to submit transactions to L&I through an Approved EDI Transaction Partner. To be updated about Pennsylvania's EDI implementation in general, or about the process for becoming an Approved EDI Transaction Partner, or both, please submit your organization's contact name and email address to RA-LI-PA-WCAIS-UP@pa.gov.
 
The basic requirements for becoming an Approved EDI Transaction Partner in Pennsylvania are:
  • The organization must be in the business of trading in EDI Claims Release 3 on behalf of others.
  • The organization must have experience trading in IAIABC Claims Release 3 format in other jurisdictions.
  • The organization must be able to supply a data feed in either flat or XML format (as specified by L&I).
  • The organization must provide an online portal option to allow small businesses to submit EDI data.
  • The organization must be an active IAIABC EDI member.
