People with disabilities and older Pennsylvanians have the same right to employment as everyone else. If you are unemployed and want to work, there are employment and training opportunities in your county.
People age 55 or older can start out by contacting the local Area Agencies on Aging (AAA). A few AAAs provide employment services directly or contract with other organizations to provide employment services. Most AAAs can provide referrals for employment. Additional Information on employment opportunities for older Pennsylvanians can also be obtained from the Senior Job Bank. The Senior Community Service Employment Program (SCSEP) may also be helpful for unemployed, income-eligible individuals age 55 and older seeking employment and training opportunities. (For specific information on the SCSEP, please click here.)
The Office of Vocational Rehabilitation (OVR) assists people with disabilities prepare and find employment through assessment, counseling and guidance, comprehensive medical, psychological, and allied services, training and job placement.
People of all ages with or without disabilities can contact their local Pennsylvania CareerLink offices to see what jobs are available and to find out what types of training might be available.
Dependent on the program. CareerLinks provide employment services to individuals of all ages.
