Q When I applied for a job.I told the interviewer that I would need to have Saturdays off because of my religionHe told me there would be no problem with that. But after only working for a month, I was told that I would have to work mandatory overtime over the weekend. Do I have to work?

A It is unlawful for an employer under the PHRAct to refuse to provide reasonable accommodations for an employee's religious beliefs. Allowing Saturday off may or may not be reasonable, depending on the circumstances. You may file a complaint with the PHRC, which will investigate and take the appropriate action.
 
Q I'm an Orthodox Jew. I applied for a sales clerk position at a clothing store. The manager said they wouldn't hire me unless I agreed not to wear my yarmulke. She can't make that decision, can she?
