The Pennsylvania Department of Education maintains a Web-based job search service called TIPS (Teaching in Pennsylvania Schools) to assist candidates seeking teaching positions and to assist administrators in filling vacant positions in the schools of the Commonwealth. (TIPS) is a secure program available at no cost to the users. School staffing is the responsibility of the administrators in each school district and applicants seeking positions in Pennsylvania schools must correspond directly to the district administrators or human resources directors in the district(s) where employment is desired. Most teacher preparation colleges and universities also assist their graduates by offering placement and career counseling services.
Please note: The Department of Education maintains a site entitled Job Vacancies in Pennsylvania which lists both professional and non-professional positions in the school districts. Job vacancies which have been posted on PENN*LINK are available through this site. The PENN*LINK service will continue to offer both certified and non-certified position vacancies (thus duplicating certified position vacancies that may also be available on TIPS) until March 31, 2004. Running both certified and non-certified positions on the PENN*LINK service until April 1, 2004, will allow schools time to learn and implement the posting of their certified vacancies onto the TIPS site. Effective April 1, 2004, the PENN*LINK Job Vacancy site will only include non-certified positions.
