Nutrition Standards in School Meal Pattern Requirements - Sample Menus
The Sample menus provided are not mandatory Pennsylania Department of Education menus and schools are not required to use them. These menus were developed by school food service staff participating in menu planning sessions held during our summer 2012 HHFKA New School Meal Pattern training series. These menus are sample menus to be used a a guide to assist with menu planning that meet the new meal pattern requirements effective July 2012.
If you do choose to implement and utilize these sample menus, please be aware that:
- it is your responsibility to ensure the products, ingredients and recipes you use meet the same meal components as indicated in the sample menus.
- if you change or substitue products, ingredients or recipes or do not utilize the week sample menu as planned, it is your responsibility to recalculate the component requirements to ensure they meet the new meal pattern requirements.
