The PLCB is pleased to announce that the 2010-2011 PLCB Grant Application to Reduce Underage and Dangerous Drinking is now available and is offering grant funds to colleges and universities; school districts; municipalities and their community organizations (such as law enforcement departments and non-profit organizations) to develop and/or maintain environmental management prevention strategies and other proven prevention strategies to reduce underage and dangerous drinking.

The maximum amout that a grant applicant may apply for is $15,000.00.  Completed grant applications are due back to the PLCB by 4:00pm on Thursday, February 25, 2010.

PROJECT SERV - An allocation of $10 million has been designated by the U.S. Department of Education for emergency assistance to schools that have experienced serious violence or a traumatic crisis.  Project SERV (School Emergency Response to Violence) offers short-term and long-term assistance to local education agencies (LEAs) to recover from a violent or traumatic event in which the learning environment has been disrupted. Immediate services assistance covers up to 60 days from the date of the incident. Extended services assistance covers up to one year from the incident. Applications are submitted as incidents occur. 

TARGET CORPORATION stores are awarding Target Community Giving Grants ranging from $1,000 to $3,000 to local nonprofit programs focused on arts, family violence prevention, and reading.  Programs likely to be funded include ones that bring arts to school or school children to the arts; promote a love of reading or encourage children to read together with their families; or prevent family violence through parenting education, family counseling, after-school programs, and support groups.  Nonprofit programs located near Target stores are eligible to apply.

U.S. DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION FORECAST OF FUNDING OPPORTUNITIES The U.S. Department of Education  recently posted their grants forecast identifying programs & competitions under which the Secretary has invited, or expects to invite, applications for new awards.  "Forecast of Funding Opportunities under ED Discretionary Grant Programs" provides information about programs & competitions previously announced, as well as those expected to be announced at a later date. The forecast is advisory only and is not an official application notice of the Department.
