Energy Star Program
ENERGY STAR is a joint program of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Department of Energy helping us all save money and protect the environment through energy efficient products and practices.
Electronic Product Environmental Assessment Tool (EPEAT™)
EPEAT™ is a system to help purchasers in the public and private sectors evaluate, compare and select desktop computers, notebooks and monitors based on their environmental attributes.
Recycled Content Products
Section 6002 of the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) established the Federal buy-recycled program.  EPA designates recycled content products in the Comprehensive Procurement Guidelines (CPG) and provides recommendations for purchasing the products in Recovered Materials Advisory Notices (RMANs).

 

Independent, Third-Party Certification

Independent, third-party certification is a scientific process by which a product, process or service is reviewed by a reputable and unbiased auditor (third party) to verify that a set of criteria, claims or standards are being met.  Third-party certifications are provided below:

Chlorine Free Products Association
The Chlorine Free Products Association {CFPA} is an independent not-for-profit accreditation & standard setting organization. CFPA’s focus is promoting sustainable manufacturing practices, implementing advanced technologies free of chlorine chemistry, educating consumers on alternatives, and developing world markets for sustainably produced third party certified products and services.
Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED)
The Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Green Building Rating System™ encourages and accelerates global adoption of sustainable green building and development practices through the creation and implementation of universally understood and accepted tools and performance criteria.
EcoLogo
Founded in 1988 by the Government of Canada but now recognized world-wide, EcoLogo is North America's largest, most respected environmental standard and certification mark.
Forest Stewardship Council (FSC)
FSC is an independent, non-governmental, not for profit organization established to promote the responsible management of the world’s forests.
Green-e
Green-e is the nation's leading independent consumer protection program for the sale of renewable energy and greenhouse gas reductions in the retail market. Green-e offers certification and verification of renewable energy and greenhouse gas mitigation products.
