Call for Presenters

Corrections professionals worldwide have been attending the National Conference for Women Working in Corrections and Juvenile Justice. Since 1985, the conference has been hosted by many different states and continues to address the many significant issues including training, education, professional and personal growth and development, along with providing networking opportunities for colleagues who understand the challenges and dynamics experienced by women in corrections and juvenile justice. To respond to the continued need for growth and development, and to address systemic issues in corrections and juvenile justice, the 2014 conference theme will be Boundaries, Barriers, Balance and Beyond.

Presenters are needed to provide training workshops relevant to current correctional, community correctional and juvenile justice issues. Presentations should be 75 minutes in length and appropriate for one or more tracks represented by the theme:

 

Boundaries (Ethics, Professionalism, etc.)

Barriers (Programming, Treatment Services, etc.)

Balance (Health, Wellness, etc.),

Beyond (Leadership development, personal growth etc.).

*Please note that training sessions are not a forum to solicit business. Please see information regarding vendor opportunities if interested in presenting products or services. Presenters who represent a private vendor or company may not serve as a presenter to market products or services, but may participate by providing educational information on topics relevant to the conference.

 

Presenter Guidelines

•The deadline for submitting proposals to present is June 1, 2014.

•We will notify you no later than July 1, 2014, if your proposal has been selected.

•Please plan workshops for a one-hour and 15-minute duration. 

•If multiple proposals for the same topic are submitted, we reserve the right to ask you to work together on a session due to the limited number of slots available.

•If your workshop proposal needs more time than allotted in a single session workshop, you may submit two workshop proposals by designating them as "Part1 and Part 2" with the same general topic heading.

•First consideration will go to a session topic that is unique, innovative or otherwise represent the conference theme tracks.

•Presenters are asked to provide their own printed handouts/materials (enough for 100 participants) if they desire to distribute during the workshop. We will ask for electronic copies of all workshop presentation material so that they can be posted online for access following the conference.

•The following equipment and resources will be supplied:  LCD projector with screen, chart stand with paper and laptop computer (if needed).  It is suggested that presenters bring their own laptop computers to avoid any configuration problems with presentation.  Please note any requests for "Additional Resources*" section below.
