FACILITY COMPLAINTS

Home Health Agency, Hospice, and End Stage Renal Dialysis (ESRD) Facility Complaints

Every health care agency or facility in Pennsylvania is responsible for providing safe and competent care.  Whenever possible, you should discuss any complaints or concerns about your health care with the agency/facility administration.  Usually the agency or facility has a process for handling and resolving issues and complaints.

The Division of Home Health maintains a toll-free Home Health Hotline to receive complaints concerning the care provided by home health agencies, hospices, and ESRD facilities.  The toll-free number is accessible 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.  During the course of normal business hours, the hotline messages are retrieved daily.  During off-hours and non-business days, the callers should leave a message on the answering machine.  When leaving a message the caller should speak clearly and include the following information:
  • Their name and telephone number including area code
  • The name of the home health agency
  • The nature of the complaint
Calls are returned the next working day.

The toll-free number is 1-800-222-0989

For complaints against other provider types, please call the Division of Home Health at (717) 783-1379.
