Dick's Pittsburgh Marathon exercise, March 25, 2014

The PA Governor’s Office of Homeland Security and the Pittsburgh Office of Emergency Management conducted a Mass Gathering, Sports Venue Tabletop Exercise involving multi-threat scenarios including protesters, active shooters, and a possible bio attack targeting the 2014 Dick’s Pittsburgh Marathon in Pittsburgh on March 25, 2014. The scope of the exercise was Federal, State, Local, and Private Sector Prevention, Protection, and Mitigation activities. The purpose of the exercise was to identify coordination and inter-operability issues, information sharing issues and gaps, and identify decision makers for the planning for and deployment of personnel for prevention and protection Activities.

Exercise participants included - Pittsburgh Joint Terrorism Task Force, Federal Bureau of Investigation, Transportation Security Agency, Pittsburgh Police Department, Pittsburgh Fire Department, Pittsburgh Emergency Medical Services, Pittsburgh Office of Emergency Management, Pittsburgh City Mayor’s Office, Allegheny County Emergency Management Agency, Allegheny County Department of Health, Region 13 Task Force, Pennsylvania Homeland Security Advisor, Pennsylvania State Police - Criminal Intelligence Center, Pennsylvania State Police - Erie, Department of Homeland Security Protection Security Advisor, AMTRAK, Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency, Southwest District of Pennsylvania Department of Health, Pennsylvania National Guard, Dick’s Sporting Goods Pittsburgh Marathon, and the Pennsylvania Governor’s Office of Homeland Security.
