Unemployment Compensation
The UC Tax Agent travels throughout assigned territories conducting advanced audits/investigations of employers payroll books, records, cash disbursements, ledgers, vouchers, and petty cash records for the purpose of compiling gross and taxable wage figures to compare against reports filed with the Bureau The representative must have knowledge of accounting and Unemployment Compensation Tax Law. It is also the duty of the UC Tax Agent to ensure the employer has a PA UC account number and is in compliance with Bureau's rules and regulations. The agent and supervisor would represent the Bureau in any judicial actions before a District Magistrate.
Information Technology (IT Jobs)
IT jobs are in great demand at L&I. Computer systems and programming languages are continuously being evaluated and updated, and information technology specialists receive training in the latest technological advances. Currently, there are major IT projects in progress that will improve delivery of services and provide more comprehensive and centralized access to information. All levels of experience with Information Technology are needed. L&I is looking for fresh ideas to help develop modern applications.
Occupational Safety
The Bureau of Occupational and Industrial Safety (BOIS) enforces the General Safety Law and the Uniform Construction Code (UCC), which provide for the safety of employees. BOIS has several Inspector and Inspector Trainee classifications that enforce the regulations and restrictions concerning workplaces and workplace safety, and the equipment, apparatus, materials, devices and machinery used.
