Security Microfilming Program

Due to FY 2009-10 budget constraints and the associated staff reductions, the Security Microfilm Program has been suspended indefinitely.

The State Archives will microfilm, at no cost to a county/municipal/school district officer, select local government records of historical and genealogical value. Priority is given to the filming of early municipal minutes. Filming is done at the Archives lab in the State Archives Building in Harrisburg. The camera negatives are stored at an underground storage facility that meets standards for the secure storage of vital records. Copies of the film are made available for use by researchers in the State Archives Search Room. User copies may be purchased for a nominal fee.
