Securing Our Energy Independence

Governor Corbett addressing workersThese resources provide Pennsylvania with the opportunity to attain energy independence.  The Commonwealth needs to harness these national gas technologies, and make this state a national model for energy innovation.

Governor Corbett’s proposal establishes “Green Corridors” in PA for natural gas-fueled vehicles with refueling stations at least every fifty miles and within two miles of key highways, and it amends the Pennsylvania Clean Vehicles Program to include “bi-fuel” vehicles (diesel and natural gas). The proposal also assists schools and mass transit systems by converting fleets to natural gas vehicles. Finally, this proposal promotes the end-use of natural gas through combined heat and power, ethylene cracker plants, peak load power generation, and other uses.
