Securing Our Energy Independence
These resources provide Pennsylvania with the opportunity to attain energy independence. The Commonwealth needs to harness these national gas technologies, and make this state a national model for energy innovation.
Governor Corbett’s proposal establishes “Green Corridors” in PA for natural gas-fueled vehicles with refueling stations at least every fifty miles and within two miles of key highways, and it amends the Pennsylvania Clean Vehicles Program to include “bi-fuel” vehicles (diesel and natural gas). The proposal also assists schools and mass transit systems by converting fleets to natural gas vehicles. Finally, this proposal promotes the end-use of natural gas through combined heat and power, ethylene cracker plants, peak load power generation, and other uses.
