W-APT
(WIDA ACCESS Placement Test)

The WIDA ACCESS Placement Test (W-APT) is an identification and placement tool for program placement and a tier assignment tool for the annual state English language proficiency assessment, ACCESS for ELLs.  This assessment tool, known as the "screener," is used by educators to measure the English language proficiecy of students who have recently arrived in the United States or in a particular Local Education Agency (LEA).  The W-APT can help to determine whether or not a child is in need of English language instruction, and if so, at what level.  For more information concerning the W-APT, please refer to the documents and/or the WIDA web site listed below:

(To view or download a copy of the W-APT, you must login and then enter your LEA W-APT username and password.  Please contact your LEA or state ELL coordinator if you have not received your W-APT login information.)
