Summary of State Education Appropriations
The following contains a summary of the enacted funding levels for 2014-2015 Department of Education appropriations.
Basic Education Funding
The enacted budget includes $5,526,129,000 for the 2014-2015 Basic Education Funding appropriation.
Special Education Funding
The enacted budget includes $1,046,815,000 for the 2014-2015 Special Education appropriation.
Secondary Career and Technical Education Subsidy
The enacted budget for 2014-2015 includes $62,000,000 for the Career and Technical Education appropriation. This amount is the same amount appropriated in 2013-2014. The appropriation allocates an estimated $49,639,000 for the Secondary Career and Technical Education Subsidy (SCTES).
Ready to Learn Block Grant
The enacted budget provides $200 million in total funding, including $100 million in new Ready to Learn funding for public schools that focus on student achievement and academic success, and funding for the successful Accountability Block Grant that supports pre-kindergarten, full-day kindergarten and other proven educational programs at the current level of $100 million. As part of this budget, schools will be authorized to use their Accountability Block Grant for purposes allowed in the Ready to Learn Block Grant, ultimately increasing flexibility for schools and improving learning outcomes for students.
