Kelley B. Hodge
Safe Schools Advocate, Philadelphia

Ms. Hodge was appointed to her position in December of 2011. The Office of Safe Schools Advocate is overseen by the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency, the state’s criminal and juvenile justice agency. Prior to assuming her position as the Safe Schools Advocate, Ms. Hodge was an attorney with the District Attorney’s Office in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She had been with the DA’s office since January 2004. She began her career as a prosecutor in the Municipal Court Unit and followed her initial assignment with assignments in the Juvenile Courts Division, the Felony Waiver Unit and the Repeat Offender Unit. She had tried a wide array of criminal cases to the bench as well as before a jury.

Under former District Attorney Lynne Abraham, Ms. Hodge served as a supervisor in the Municipal Court unit. Under District Attorney Seth Williams, she continued as an administrative supervisor and served as the Chief of the Municipal Court Unit and the Assistant Chief of the Juvenile Unit. In all capacities, Ms. Hodge had the opportunity to train and supervise numerous Assistant District Attorneys as well as implement, staff and/or supervise numerous diversionary court programs, including Veteran’s Court, Mental Health Court and the DUI treatment court.

Before joining the District Attorney’s Office, Ms. Hodge was a Senior Assistant Public Defender with the Public Defender’s Office in Richmond, Virginia. She worked as a defender for over six (6) years and vertically handled a variety of cases ranging from petit larceny to homicide. Additionally, Ms. Hodge has served as an adjunct professor of law at Drexel University’s Earle Mack School of Law.

Ms. Hodge was born in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania. She attended Mt. St. Joseph Academy in Flourtown, PA before receiving her undergraduate degree in Foreign Affairs and Spanish from the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, VA in 1993. In 1996, she graduated from the University of Richmond T.C. Williams School of Law (Richmond, VA). She lives in Philadelphia, PA with her husband of fourteen years, John and their 5 year old son.
