All policies were cancelled either on the normal expiration date or 30 days from the date of liquidation, whichever was earliest.
Depending on the nature of your claim and Colonial's license status in your state, you may be entitled to the protection of your state guaranty association.
By Commonwealth Court Order dated September 10, 1999, no Proof of Claim forms shall be accepted after May 31, 1999. No documentation or supplemental information shall be accepted after October 5, 1999. Failure to submit any of this information before the mentioned dates shall act as a bar to the claim.
Following final evidentiary hearings on November 4, 5, 8, 9 and 15, 2004, on, among other things, the Liquidator's Amended Final Account and Petition for Distribution and Discharge ("Amended Petition"), the Commonwealth Court, by Order dated April 29, 2005, approved and confirmed absolutely the Amended Petition, subject to a recalculation of interest payable on all claims beginning July 14, 2004 through May 13, 2005, and a current statement of Colonial's assets and liabilities and remaining surplus payable to Louis Mazzella, Sr. upon final distribution. Accordingly, the April 29, 2005 Order directed the Liquidator to file a final Amended Petition by May 13, 2005. In accordance with the Court's direction, the Liquidator filed a Final Amended Petition for Distribution on May 13, 2005. By Order dated June 3, 2005, the Court approved the May 13, 2005 filing, as well as the final distribution of assets in accordance with the April 29, 2005 Order. On October 24, 2005, a distribution was made to all claimants in accordance with the Courts April 29, 2005 Order.
