Robert T. Datorre

Robert T. Datorre was appointed as Assistant Counsel with the Pennsylvania Department of Education in January of 2012. Prior to that appointment, he served as Assistant Counsel with the Governor’s Office of General Counsel, for the Pennsylvania Department of Health, Office of Legal Counsel, focusing his representation with the Deputy Secretary for Quality Assurance and the Division of Nursing Care Facilities, the Division of Acute and Ambulatory Care, the Division of Home Health, the Division of Drug & Alcohol Program Licensure, the Division of Safety Inspection, and the Health Care-Associated Infection Prevention Section.

Mr. Datorre received his B.A. in Business Administration from the University of Florida in 1998, and his J.D. from the University of Miami in 2001.  Prior to joining the Department’s legal team, Mr. Datorre was an Assistant City Attorney and Police Legal Advisor with the City of Miami Beach, Florida.  Mr. Datorre worked closely with the Mayor and City Commission, the City Manager’s Office, the various City departments and the community in the areas of code compliance, public safety, and quality of life.  Mr. Datorre’s practice included litigation in administrative, state and federal tribunals, contract drafting and review, and research and drafting of ordinances for review and approval by the Mayor and Commission. 

Mr. Datorre has served as Zone 3 Co-Chair for the Pennsylvania Bar Association’s Young Lawyers Division (2008-2010) and currently serves as the YLD’s Delegate to the PBA’s House of Delegates (2010-Present).  Mr. Datorre also serves as Co-Chair for the Government Attorneys Subcommittee of the PBA’s Minority Bar Committee (2009-2010; 2011-Present) and Co-Chair of the Communications Subcommittee for the Government Attorneys Committee (2010-Present) and is a current active member of the Minority Bar Committee, the Government Attorneys Committee, and the Health Care Law Committee.  Mr. Datorre is also the YLD’s Ambassador to the PBA’s Diversity Team, a member of the PBA’s Planning Committee, and a Life Fellow in the Pennsylvania Bar Foundation.  Mr. Datorre is a regular speaker at various continuing education seminars throughout Pennsylvania.
