Items Needed to Complete the Online Business Registration Interview (OBRI)





The items needed to complete the Online Business Registration Interview (OBRI) depend upon many factors.   The OBRI is organized into six sections.  Each section has a group of interview questions that are individually tailored based upon the answers to previous questions.  If required information is not available, use the "Pause" button to suspend your interview.  The interview information completed thus far will be securely stored in your briefcase.  


  • Enterprise Information

    This section collects general information about the registering enterprise.

    • Business Structure
    • Authorized shares of stock (Corporations only)
    • Legal name
    • Address information, including enterprise location address, mailing address, and location of records
    • Date of first operation

  • Enterprise Ownership

    This section collects information about the principals of the registering enterprise.  Depending on the business structure, principals can be owners, partners, officers, shareholders (owning 5% or more), organizers, incorporators, members, executors/administrators, or responsible parties.   If the registering enterprise is owned by another enterprise(s), information will be collected about the parent enterprise(s).  Ownership information includes the name and social security number or Federal Employer Identification Number (FEIN) of each principal.

  • Bulk Sale/Transfer

    This section collects information about the bulk sale and/or transfer of assets from a preexisting enterprise to the registering enterprise.  This section must be completed by any enterprise that acquires 51% or more of the assets of another enterprise.

  • Business Services

    This section collects information about the business services for which the enterprise is registering.

    • Date wages will first be paid (enterprises with employees)
    • Workers' Compensation policy information (enterprises with employees)
    • Date of first taxable sale.

  • Multiple Establishment

    This section collects information about each establishment that conducts business in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.  This section must be completed by all enterprises that operate more than one establishment in Pennsylvania.

    • Establishment name
    • Date of first operations

  • Predecessor

    This section collects information about the predecessor of the registering enterprise. This section must be completed by enterprises that acquire the business activity of a predecessor, in whole or in part.

    • Legal name of predecessor enterprise
    • Percentage of predecessor's Pennsylvania business operation acquired
    • Date predecessor ceased paying wages (if applicable)
    • Date predecessor ceased operation (if applicable)
