 Overview

An IU Technology Integration Mentor (IU TIM) acts as a support and resource for the Classrooms for the Future (CFF) coach. The IU TIM develops a professional learning community for all CFF coaches within their respective IU. In this non-supervisory role, the IU TIM supports coaches as they support teachers to deliver data-driven, technology enhanced lessons in their schools. Focusing on coaches' strengths, the IU TIM collaborates with the CFF coaches in their efforts to help teachers transform classrooms into 21st Century, authentic, differentiated, learner-centered environments. The IU TIM understands the connections between/among CFF and other PDE high school reform projects.

 Roles and Responsibilities

Mentoring

    • Be the first point of contact for coach questions and concerns
    • Work with PDE coach mentor assigned to IU
    • Schedule regular visits to each CFF building to ensure effective CFF implementation
    • Provide regular, on-going support to keep pulse on what’s going on with each coach within each school to ensure effective CFF implementation
      • Visit each CFF school
      • Call each coach regularly
      • Send/respond to individual e-mails
      • Complete CFF coach mentor logs
      • Periodically review the coach’s Action Plans with them
      • Review individual coach log prior to communication with coach
      • Support coaches as they monitor data to determine the impact of instructional strategies
      • Review coach action plans
    • Be a resource for technology needs assessment
    • Participate in the online coaching community

      • Listserv
    • Work individually with coaches:
      • To design, develop and deliver professional development
      • To model coaching process
        • Observe instruction and student learning
        • Provide feedback
        • Facilitate reflective practice
    • Act as a bridge between coaches (schools) and PDE
    • Communicate regularly with CFF PDE Mentors and IU 21 staff
    • Collaborate with PDE Coach Mentors to build a coaching community
    • Facilitate state-wide collaboration with coaches in other IUs/regions
    • Survey coaches as needed
    • Respect the confidentiality of the CFF coaches
    • All other duties as assigned
Leadership
    • Provide support to the new or established district CFF Leadership Team
    • Provide support, mentoring, and assistance to CFF coaches in working with teachers
    • Model best practices and assist coaches in designing and delivering effective instruction
    • Assist coaches in identifying appropriate instructional, administrative, and communication technologies, including resources for differentiating instruction
    • Research innovative learning opportunities for coaches in order to effectively use technology to transform classrooms and instruction
    • Focus conversation on High School Reform and technology integration
    • Support coaches with understanding of change process and with moving CFF program forward
    • Utilize technology through a differentiated instruction approach to meet individual student needs
    • Introduce coaches to local representatives of the business world to discuss 21 st Century Skills, content and relevance to the world
    • Assist PDE, PDE mentors, and IU 21 in identifying ongoing needs for professional development
    • Develop effective procedures for communicating to coaches information about the impact of coaching on student learning
    • Converse with PDE, PDE Mentors and IU 21 around on-going challenges of authentic, learner-centered environments, delivering standards-aligned, data driven, 21 st Century lessons and technology integration
    • Assist districts in fulfilling grant requirements
Assessment

    • Guide coaches in the use of assessment data to adjust instructional practice
    • Assist coaching teams in the analysis and use of assessment data to inform instruction
    • Meet regularly with CFF coaches to review data and assess progress
Professional Development
    • Participate in all required IU TIMs and CFF professional development opportunities
    • Collaborate with CFF coaches, administrators, and other personnel to identify professional development needs
    • Provide and/or support regional staff development to ensure teacher knowledge of research-based technology solutions, assessment, intervention, and instructional strategies
    • Help build local professional development teams
    • Provide facilitation and critical feedback for coach progress
    • Effectively facilitate regular meetings for CFF coaches who are in IU
