The Pennsylvania Performance Index Score Ranges and Index Multipliers
(updated July 2007)
Pennsylvania Performance Index (PPI) provides for detecting, acknowledging, encouraging, and rewarding changes across the full range and continuum of academic achievement – not limited solely to the proficient level.
The Pennsylvania Performance Index (PPI) student-level scaled score values, ranges, and associated PPI index multiplier by grade and content area are shown below:

Note: Low and high below basic and low and high basic scaled scores were determined based upon the scaled score numerical mid-points of the below basic – basic, and basic – proficient performance levels. The lowest assigned student-level scaled score is 700 for grades 4 - 8 and 11. For grade 3 the lowest assigned student-level scaled scores are 750 for math and 1000 for reading.
