The Pennsylvania Department of Education's statewide longitudinal data system is improving data capabilities by enhancing school districts' capacities to meet student-level data reporting requirements and provide robust decision support tools. PIMS is based on open internet standards that enable sharing among diverse, otherwise incompatible systems and includes safeguards for data quality and security.

2014-2015 PIMS Changes

As we have done in previous years, PDE is proposing to implement PIMS changes that are necessary to meet PDE's federal and state reporting requirements.  Other changes are proposed to facilitate a more streamlined reporting process consistent with the goals of the Data Collection Consolidation Project.  You are invited to review these proposed changes and provide feedback on any of the postings.  Comments regarding these proposed changes should be submitted to RA-PIMSComment@pa.gov on or before June 30, 2014.

Data Quality Engine

The Data Quality Engine (DQE) is an enhancement to the Pennsylvania Information Management System (PIMS) designed to allow business rules to be run up front, validating data before it is loaded into the PIMS and will have the capacity to perform more complex comparisons than is currently possible with the base system.
