What is the Press Office?
The Press Office is responsible for directing and coordinating media relations, public information and internal and external communications for DGS. It is staffed by a Press Secretary, who serves as official spokesperson and media relations consultant to executive staff.
The Press Office responds to media inquiries and works with department employees to coordinate responses. In addition, it explains DGS initiatives, accomplishments and programs to the news media and residents of the Commonwealth.
The DGS Press Office works with other executive agencies and press offices on cooperative projects and events. The Press Secretary serves as liaison between DGS and the Governor's Office concerning communication initiatives relating to public information and the news media.
