Appraiser Trainee License
The new license for appraiser trainees goes into effect on Oct. 1, 2010.  A trainee must submit an application, pay a fee of $75, have good moral character, and complete 30 hours of basic appraisal principles, 30 hours of basic appraisal procedures, and the 15-hour National USPAP course. Applications will be available on our website.

The Honorable Basil L. Merenda was unanimously confirmed by the Pennsylvania State Senate as Secretary of the Commonwealth on Sept. 27. 

His confirmation is a testimony to the strong working relationships and excellent service that he and the staff of the Bureau of Professional and Occupational Affairs (BPOA) has provided to Pennsylvanians and members of the Legislature during his tenure as Commissioner of BPOA and Deputy Secretary for Regulatory Programs.

Business Licensing Board Roundtable Yields Positive Feedback

Department of State Secretary Basil L. Merenda and Deputy Commissioner of the Bureau of Professional and Occupational Affairs Mark Vessella held the first Business Licensing Board Roundtable discussion meeting on Sept. 29.  The meeting’s 25 attendees included board chairs and vice-chairs, administrators and division chiefs. 

During the meeting, various administrative issues were discussed and board chairs were given the opportunity to raise issues of concern for their board.
