Department of Community and Economic Development

Department of Insurance

A resource for consumers and the insurance market place to gather information about various types of insurance (including business insurance); users can seek data about an insurance company or request a complaint form that can be filed with the department.  Updates on actions by major insurance issues are also available.

Department of Labor & Industry

This site contains information about labor laws and safety standards in the workplace, as well as compliance issues with Workers' Compensation and Unemployment Compensation (UC). It also offers labor-management resources, prevailing wage, and various construction codes.  Employers may file and pay UC taxes online.

PA New Hire Reporting

All Pennsylvania employers are required to report all newly-hired employees. The New Hires Reporting Program is a cooperative federal and state-level program designed to increase non-custodial parent compliance with child support rulings, and detect UC fraud overpayments.

Department of Revenue

Features various online business services such as Etides  for filing and paying business taxes, and an Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) registration is available; it also offers business operation resources.

Department of State 

Site allows you to search for corporate names and Uniform Commercial Code listings (liens held by financial institutions).  Also, it provides information on elections and professional licenses; online filing is available to certain professionals (see LicensePA)

Department of Transportation

Transportation business services are available including construction and engineering software, registration of vehicles, environmental management, auctions for used construction vehicles and equipment, and other resources regarding highway issues. 
 
Department of Treasury

This site contains everything you need to know about the Treasury Department's programs and services, including unclaimed property reporting and other pertinent programs.

Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board 

This link will take you to where you can validate and renew your retail and wholesale license for alcohol sale in the Commonwealth.  This site is currently under expansion and will provide more capability in the future. 
 
Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency (PEMA)

PEMA coordinates state agency response, including the Office of Homeland Security, in the areas of civil defense, disaster mitigation and preparedness, planning, and response to and recovery from man-made or natural disasters.  PEMA's website includes a  preparedness planning guide to assist in protecting employees and clients within a facility which is at risk of natural or man-caused disasters.

The Governor's Action Team are high-level economic development professionals who report directly to the Governor and work with economic development organizations and employers around the world to secure major job-creation projects for Pennsylvania.

Team PA Business Resource Network

The Team Pennsylvania Business Resource Network (BRN) is a dynamic and innovative high-tech, Internet-based, research tool and presentation system. The BRN is designed for businesses and economic developers to quickly access the information needed when considering business in PA. Information includes tax rates, commercial real estate listings, and employment rates.

Invitation to Qualify (ITQ)

The ITQ process provides statewide contracts that are intended to give Pennsylvania state agencies easy access to information technology (IT) services by doing business with pre-qualified vendors.

Department of General Services (DGS)

DGS plays a vital role in maintaining the infrastructure of state government in Pennsylvania.  DGS oversees procurement of goods and services, manages non-highway capital projects and is responsible for numerous core operations of state government, including management of the vehicle fleet, the Capitol Police force, state buildings and facilities, and acts as the state's real estate agent and insurance broker.

FirstGov.gov

The US government's official web portal.  It features online services for businesses such as filing patents and trademarks, government sales and auctions, and other resources available from the federal government. 
 
United States Census Bureau, NAICS Division

This site contains information about the North American Industrial Classification System (NAICS) as provided by the United States Census Bureau.

The City of Philadelphia

If your business is located in Philadelphia, or if you have taxable Philadelphia transactions, or if you are a Pennsylvania business having Philadelphia resident employees, you can register online for your Philadelphia Business Tax Account number.

Pennsylvania Small Business Development Centers (SBDCs)

The Pennsylvania Small Business Development Centers are located regionally throughout Pennsylvania and around the nation through the Small Business Administration. They help small firms and aspiring entrepreneurs with making their business successful from start-up to expanding to providing essential everyday resources.

Service Corps Of Retired Executives (SCORE)

SCORE is an organization of more than 12,000 volunteers who offer management counseling and training.  As retired executives and business owners, they have extensive business experience and special skills.  The counseling is confidential and free of charge.  SCORE is sponsored by the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA).
