DEP believes that it is vital for citizens to be informed about environmental issues in their communities, especially those issues that are of significant local interest and impact over an extended period of time. It is the purpose of the Community Involvement section to make information about major environmental issues within the five counties of southeastern Pennsylvania conveniently located and accessible to all residents.

DEP Responds to Comments Regarding New Hope Crushed Stone and Lime Co.'s Permit Depth Application
05/02/12 - The Department of Environmental Protection has received comments from the public regarding New Hope Crushed Stone and Lime Co.’s (NHCS) application for a permit depth correction, or permit correction, seeking authorization to mine 50 feet deeper at NHCS’s quarry in Solebury Township. The department’s responses to the primary issues raised regarding the depth correction and operations at NHCS can be viewed on the fact sheet below. The permit was approved on July 29, 2011.
