Timothy S. Ruppert

Director, Bureau of Management Information SystemsTimothy S. Ruppert was appointed Director of the Bureau of Management Information Systems on November 5, 2007.

As Director, Mr. Ruppert is responsible for managing all activities within the Bureau as it relates to projects and information technology-related services to other bureaus within the Department.

Prior to this role, Mr. Ruppert served as Project Manager for the Statewide Uniform Registry of Electors (SURE) since February 23, 2004. In that role, he oversaw and managed a 16-member team (plus 3 outside vendors) supporting Pennsylvania's federal- and state-mandated $25-plus million central voter registration system. Mr. Ruppert was responsible for the administration, installation and implementation of the SURE system within established time frames as well as providing ongoing support for the SURE system after implementation to ensure that the system was continually in compliance with the law.

Mr. Ruppert began his career with the Commonwealth in 2000 as a Technical Strategy Consultant for Microsoft Corporation. In this role, he worked as a technical strategy consultant for the Commonwealth's Dynamic Site Framework, a Web-based tool which allows agencies to create Web sites and post content to the Internet.

From March to November 2000, Mr. Ruppert was the manager of Custom Programming and EDI Development where he coordinated and managed daily activities of custom and EDI programmers. Mr. Ruppert has more than 20 years of experience, including Support Analyst, Software Engineer, and Manager of Product Services.

Mr. Ruppert graduated from Shippensburg University with a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science Information Systems in December 1990. He is also a Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE), as well as a Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA) since February 2002.

He was honored as winner of the Gold Employee award at Companion Technologies in 1993 and 1994.

Mr. Ruppert lives in Perry County with his wife Amy.
