Megan Sweeney was appointed Special Assistant on October 31, 2011.

In this capacity, Ms. Sweeney will provide various technical and managerial assistance to the Secretary, Deputy Secretary for Administration and Regulatory Programs, Deputy Secretary for External Affairs and Elections, and Deputy Secretary for Planning and Service Delivery.

Before coming to the Department, Ms. Sweeney served as Press Secretary for Congressman Lou Barletta in Washington, D.C. Prior to that, she served as a Deputy Communications and Technology Director and as a Confidential Assistant in the U.S. Department of Education.

Ms. Sweeney holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Government and History from Cornell University and completed two years of study at La Salle University.
