Boxer License Requirements

All professional boxers must be licensed (Boxing License Application). As part of this licensing all Boxers must provide an annual physical as well as a NEGATIVE HIV, HEP C and HEP B-Surface Antigen exam at time of licensing - Results cannot be more than 6 months old. Boxers will also be required to take a pre-fight physical at the time of weigh-in by a Commission approved doctor.  
 
Applicants over 36 years of age will not be licensed except by special action of the Commission, which will take into consideration the applicant’s overall physical health, age, ring experience, win/loss record, results of the most recent matches and the ability of the Commission to approve viable match-ups for the applicant.
 
All Boxers must have a current Federal ID card
 
If you are making your professional debut (first professional boxing bout) the boxer's experience form MUST be completed by your trainer or manager and submitted with your license application.
 
In determining whether to issue or renew any license or permit, the commission shall consider the best interest and welfare of the public, the preservation of the safety and health of participants and the best interest of boxing generally.

Before being granted any permit or license, the applicant must establish that he is:

  • Of good moral character.
  • Of good reputation.
  • Physically fit and mentally sound.
  • Skilled in his profession.
  • Of requisite age and experience.
  • Not addicted to the intemperate use of alcohol or to the use of narcotic drugs.
In the case of a corporate applicant, these factors shall be considered with reference to its officers, directors, employees and principal stockholders.

Each license issued under this subpart shall expire on December 31 next following the date on which he was issued.

Every application for license or a permit shall:
 

  • Be in writing on a form supplied by the commission.
  • Be verified by the applicant.
  • Set forth such information and have attached thereto such photographs and other exhibits as are required by this subpart, the rules and regulations promulgated under this subpart in the form of application.
The commission may require any applicant for a license or permit or, in the case of a corporate applicant, any officer, director, employee or stockholder they are out to appear before the commission for an oral examination, under oath, as to the qualifications of the applicant before taking action on that application.
