 Engineers and Land Surveyors Computer Based Testing (CBT) for the Fundamentals Examinations 

*  Candidates applying for the Fundamentals of Engineering Examination   (FE) may register directly with NCEES without pre-approval if candidates have graduated from an ABET accredited engineering program or who have completed two years of an ABET accredited engineering program.

*  Candidates without an ABET accredited engineering degree or applying by experience will need to apply to the Pennsylvania State Board for pre-approval.

Candidates applying for the Fundamentals of Land Surveying will apply to the State Board for approval before registering with NCEES for the examination.

PLEASE NOTE:  It is an applicant's responsibility to ensure they have reviewed the Engineer, Land Surveyor and Geologist Registration law to determine if they may have met the minimum requirements to qualify for approval to sit for an examination, prior to submitting an application.

All examination candidates must be approved to sit for the Principles/Practices of Engineering, Principles/Practices of Land Surveying and the State Specific Land Surveying  examinations prior to registering, scheduling and submitting payment for an examination. Application, Examination and/or Scheduling Fees are not refundable OR transferable.

Scheduling forms for the geology examinations will be provided to you if you receive approval to sit for an examination. Completed scheduling forms must be submitted directly to PCS by their scheduling deadline. 
 
 
 
 
The application for approval to sit for an examination must be mailed directly to Pennsylvania Board Office.
 
Your complete application must be postmarked no later than the date below to be considered for the corresponding examination:
 
June 15 (October administration of the ASBOG Examination)
November 15 (March administration of the ASBOG Examination)

License renewal cycle and fees: Licenses expire September 30 of every odd-numbered year.  Section 4.5 of the Engineer, Land Surveyor and Geologist Registration Law requires the completion of at least 24 PDH, as a condition for licensure renewal.
 
The board mails renewal notices two to three months prior to the license expiration date.  Notices are mailed to the most recent address the licensee has reported to the Board.  The Postal Service does not forward licenses.

If your license has expired you should contact the Board Office either by
phone 717-783-7049 or by e-mail: ST-ENGINEER@pa.gov  to request a reactivation application.
