Living Arrangements
On-Campus Dorm Life
Most students reside on-campus during their education at HGAC. Living arrangements at HGAC are divided into men's and women's dorms. Dorm rooms accommodate two students, and each room has its own bathroom. Spacious shower rooms are located within each dorm wing. Students with special needs or under a doctor's orders may be given a private room. Private rooms are smaller than shared rooms, but offer the same kind of room amenities (bathroom, shower room, cable, phone) as double rooms.
Each dorm wing has its own spacious central lounge area with television, couches, chairs, and a microwave oven.
HGAC students have access to on-site laundry facilities free of charge. Linens are washed and cleaned for the student through a contracted laundry service. A full housekeeping staff assures that dorm rooms and areas are cleaned daily, but students may opt to clean their own rooms. Sweepers and cleaning products are provided.
Students may bring their vehicles to school and park them in designated student lots behind the dorms. Every HGAC community member, however (student, staff, faculty, tenant) must register their vehicle with the HGAC Security Department upon admission. Parking is free and very convenient to the dorms.
Students (are required to) sign a Residential Living Agreement during the admissions process into the dormitory. This agreement reflects the student’s responsibilities to maintain the living area in a clean, safe condition and to follow the objectives of the facility Visitation Policy, the Student Code of Conduct and the Drug and Alcohol Policy.
Commuting to HGAC
For those students who commute to HGAC, ample parking is also available. Commuter students, as dorm students, must register their vehicles with the Security Department upon being admitted to the Center.
Transitional Living
For severely physically disabled students, the
Transitional Living Program makes obtaining a diploma or degree a very real possibility.
