The Pennsylvania Department of Education strives to assist Pennsylvanians in becoming inspired, productive and fulfilled life-long learners by offering a wide variety of programs and services. The department’s efforts to help every student reach his or her fullest potential begin in the earliest years through the promotion of accessible, affordable, high-quality pre-kindergarten programs. As students progress through elementary and secondary school, we strive to ensure they are meeting the academic standards for their grade level.

The department also works to ensure all students graduating from high school are prepared for college or other postsecondary training and are ready to be successful citizens and participants in a global economy. For those who choose to continue their formal education at the postsecondary level, the department is committed to ensuring higher education is accessible and affordable.
