Child Development Associate

The Bureau of Career and Technical Education (BCTE) recognizes the value of students earning industry certifications. The Council for Professional Recognition, http://www.cdacouncil.org/, in the childcare industry, promotes improved performance and recognition of professionals in early childhood care and education - the people who work with children from birth through five years of age in early childhood centers, family child care homes, and as home visitors. Students in the approved 19.0708 Childcare/Management Services Program must be 18 years of age and hold a high school diploma before they are eligible to apply for the Child Development Associate (CDA) assessment and certification. However, there are many other CDA requirements for which students in this program area can develop proficiency while in the Career Technical Center (CTC) or high school setting. To recognize students who have met academic and experiential requirements, BCTE is issuing CDA-Ready Certificates. The following documents give instructions and are guidelines on how to obtain this CDA-Ready Certificate.
