The Pennsylvania Department of Health is responsible for administering the Title V Maternal and Child Health (MCH) Services Block Grant for the State of Pennsylvania .  The MCH Block Grant program is located within the Bureau of Family Health.  The Bureau Director, Melita J. Jordan, is the Title V Director for the Commonwealth.

The MCH Block Grant plays a major role in the provision of maternal and child health services in Pennsylvania.  Funds from this grant are distributed among a number of programs, all targeted to the improvement of the health of women and infants, children and adolescents, and children with special health care needs.

Each year in mid-July, the Bureau of Family Health submits its grant application for Federal Maternal and Child Health funding to the Health Resources Services Administration (HRSA).  Pennsylvania received $24,663,638 in MCH Block Grant funding in Federal Fiscal Year 2007.

Block Grant Meetings

The Bureau of Family Health held stakeholder meetings throughout the state to obtain public comment and testimony about Title V Block programming and services and discuss and develop our application for the Maternal and Child Health Services Title V Block Grant application for 2010.  Please feel free to distribute this information among your peers, partners and public.
