MCH Priorities PA Snapshot Title V Block Grant Application MCH Measures Needs Assessment
The Pennsylvania Department of Health is responsible for administering the Title V Maternal and Child Health (MCH) Services Block Grant for the State of Pennsylvania. The MCH Block Grant program is located within the Bureau of Family Health. The Bureau Director, Melia D. Belonus, is the Title V Director for the Commonwealth.
The MCH Block Grant plays a major role in the provision of maternal and child health services in Pennsylvania. Funds from this grant are distributed among a number of programs, all targeted to the improvement of the health of women and infants, children and adolescents, and children with special health care needs.
Each year in mid-July, the Bureau of Family Health submits its grant application for Federal Maternal and Child Health funding to the Health Resources Services Administration (HRSA). Pennsylvania received $24,121,972 in MCH Block Grant funding in 2011.
