Troop R Camp Cadet
The team concept is an integral part of Camp Cadet. Marching in formation to presentations and daily military drill exercise helps to strengthen the unity of the class.

Cadets gain first hand knowledge of many specialized jobs associated with law enforcement. Pictured here is a State Police K9 Trooper demonstrating how dogs are trained to locate illicit drugs.

The Scranton Police SWAT team demonstrates the various aspects of their response to critical incidents. Cadets are given the opportunity to handle the complex equipment utilized at incidents. 

The concept of teamwork helps Cadets build relationships with classmates that will last a lifetime. the camp Cadet Experience is one that is never forgotten.

In addition to "traditional" law enforcement presentations, Cadets see how other agencies enforce Pennsylvania and Federal Law. Pictured above is  DCNR Officer explaining his job duties.

In keeping with the State Police Academy atmosphere, Cadets are required to take part in physical training (PT) every morning at 6 AM. PT shows Cadets they have the ability to better themselves with effort.

Cadets attending Camp get the inside track to areas of law enforcement that some people won't witness in a lifetime. Pictured are a PSP Helicopter and Trooper explaining his job as a pilot.

The cadets are given a demonstration of a police dog during their day at the range.

Highway Safety is one of the main goals of the Pennsylvania State Police. The use of motorcycles aids in accomplishing that goal. Pictured above is a Motorcycle Patrol Trooper explaining his job and the complex equipment he carries while on Patrol.

The cadets are instructed by the Pennsylvania Fish Commission, Waterways Conservation Officer about some of Pennsylvania's reptiles.


All of the cadets get involved with conducting mock traffic stops where the law enforcement officers portray the "bad guys".


The cadets are taught some of the history of the United States Flag prior to it being raised.

The cadets under a formal inspection by the Pennsylvania State Police Area II Commander while standing in formation.


The cadets are given information about the Life Flight Helicopter prior to being allowed to look around inside of it.

The cadets are shown around the Forensic Services van. The cadets see the tools of the trade for the Forensic Services Unit.
