The Pennsylvania Department of Health has two openings for Epidemiologist Manager in Dauphin County.

 

Type of Work
State Epidemiologist/Director, Division of Infectious Disease Field Investigation and Support: This individual will coordinate, supervise, and direct disease and outbreak investigations throughout Pennsylvania (population 12.8 million) in collaboration with local and district health officials. The division consists of 22 staff members including public health physicians, veterinarians, PhD and master’s level epidemiologists based in Harrisburg and elsewhere in the state and hosts CDC assignees and CSTE fellows. In addition to outbreak investigations, this active division is responsible for HIV/AIDS- related field investigations and refugee health programs. The state epidemiologist also provides support and guidance for programs throughout the health department. Successful applicants should have a track record of success conducting science- based infectious disease investigations, implementing prevention and control measures. Experience managing cooperative agreement and grant funds is preferred.

 

Director, Division of Infectious Disease Surveillance and Analysis: This individual will be responsible for oversight and management of disease surveillance efforts, including communicable disease reporting through Pennsylvania’s integrated National Electronic Disease Surveillance System, situational awareness through syndromic surveillance, HIV/AIDS surveillance, monitoring healthcare associated infections, and the planning and preparedness section, including the health alert network. The division consists of 24 staff members including public health physicians, PhD and master’s level epidemiologists. The division also consults with other parts of the department that use the integrated disease surveillance infrastructure. Successful applicants should have experience with information technology, electronic information gathering and exchange, and analytic statistical packages and approaches. Experience managing cooperative agreement and grant funds is preferred.

Starting Salary

$104,470-$127,473/annually
