Opportunities The
Department of Conservation and Natural Resources currently has 54
vacancies for DCNR Ranger in the Bureau of State Parks and the Bureau of
Forestry in the following counties: Beaver,
Bedford, Berks, Bucks, Cambria, Cameron, Carbon, Centre, Chester,
Clearfield, Cumberland, Delaware, Erie, Forest, Franklin, Huntingdon,
Lackawanna, Mifflin, Monroe, Montgomery, Perry, Pike, Potter, Schuylkill,
Tioga, Union, Warren, and York.
Please
note that when designating the type of employment sought on the
application, it is imperative that applicants indicate seasonal
availability. These
positions generally work an 8 ½ month season from March through
November.
You
must be at least 21 to apply; possess a valid certification in first aid
and adult, child, and infant CPR at time of interview; possess a valid
Class C driver’s license or equivalent; have completed 15 credits in
natural or environment sciences; and completed a department-recognized
police training course (Act 120) or
equivalent. |

Type
of Work You
will perform public safety work and promote recreation in state parks and
forests. Work includes answering questions concerning facilities,
environmental features and history; explaining rules and regulations;
checking grounds, buildings and waterways for vandalism, safety hazards,
and cleanliness; and administering first aid or CPR. You will also prepare
and deliver presentations to school, civil groups and associations;
enforce the Commonwealth’s Crimes Code and Vehicle Code; investigate
complaints, accidents, and suspected crimes; coordinate activities with
local and State Police, Game Commission and the Fish and Boat Commission;
issue citations, file complaints and present cases before District
Justices. |
