The Department of Conservation and Natural Resources has 15 openings for Lake Erie Lifeguard. Opportunities are in the county listed below.

Type of Work
Lake Erie Lifeguards perform
public safety work at Presque Isle State Park (Erie County) swimming areas along Lake Erie. You will patrol and survey the swimming areas to prevent swimmers from endangering themselves or others; enforce swimming regulations; rescue swimmers in distress; search for drowning victims; and administer first aid to the injured.

Candidates must possess a valid American Red Cross Lifeguard Training Certificate; or a valid YMCA Lifeguard Training Certificate; and a valid American Red Cross Community First Aid and Safety Certificate; or any combination of valid certificates in standard first aid and adult, child and infant CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation).

Starting Salary

Lake Erie Lifeguards earn a starting rate of $12.92/hour.


Benefits are NOT available for seasonal positions.


Pennsylvania residency is required at the time of application for these positions.
