 NATURE OF WORK

 

As a Commissioned Boiler Inspector Director, you will develop and implement standard inspection and enforcement policies and procedures for Commonwealth inspectors and commissioned insurance inspectors; plan, direct and organize the statewide boiler, pressure vessel, liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) and Flammable and Combustible Liquids inspection, recruitment and training programs; and direct development and adherence to administrative procedures for the billing, processing, accounting and review of funds within the program

 

You will also evaluate current regulations, policies and procedures to accommodate contemporary needs resulting from changes in operating procedure and technical improvements; appear before work groups and professional affiliations throughout the Commonwealth or other states for interpretation of regulations, training purposes and improved communications with interested persons; attend related professional functions and/or public meetings as it relates to codes and standards involving boiler, pressure vessels, flammable and combustible liquids and LPG; appear before the Boiler and LPG Advisory Boards and the PA Industrial Boards to present testimony regarding matters under consideration; and maintain National Board accreditation and serve as Pennsylvania’s representative.

Minimum Requirements

 

Necessary Special Requirement

Possession of a valid National Board of Boiler and Pressure Vessel Inspector Commission OR passed the National Board of Boiler and Pressure Vessel Examination as defined in Section 4 of NB-263, Rules for Commissioned Inspectors, and meet all qualifications of Section 2.2.2 of NB-263 so that a National Board of Boiler and Pressure Vessel Inspector Commission may be obtained.

 

Post Employment Requirement

If hired, after passing the examination but before being commissioned, you must obtain a valid National Board of Boiler and Pressure Vessel Inspector Commission and a valid Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Boiler and Pressure Vessel Inspector Commission within the probationary period.

 

Minimum Requirements

Six years of experience conducting inspections of, or examining applications, plans, and specifications for, the design, construction, and installation of boilers and unfired pressure vessels.

 

TESTING

 

Your application will be evaluated to determine whether you meet the Minimum and Necessary Special Requirements.  If you meet these requirements you will receive a score.

 

You must provide information showing you possess a valid National Board of Boiler and Pressure Vessel Inspector Commission OR that you passed the National Board of Boiler and Pressure Examination.  Failure to do so may delay the processing of your application or result in disqualification.

 

You may take the test once under this announcement.  You may not reapply until another examination is announced.

 

TEST RESULTS

 

Employment and promotion lists will be established.  You will be notified in writing of your test results.
