BIN and PCN EDITS
In
preparation for the NPI implementation on May 23, 2007, Providers were also
advised to verify that the BIN (Field 101-A1) being used to submit claims to
PACE/PACENET, CRDP, CF, SB, MSUD, PKU, SPBP, PAP or SWIF was BIN 002286.
Claims submitted to CF, SB, MSUD, PKU, PAP or SWIF were
to use Processor Control Number (PCN) of ØØØØ6822Ø1.
On May 23, 2007 PACE began denying claims submitted without
the NPI.
Because the NPI modification was a major change, it was
decided to accept claims submitted with incorrect BIN and/or PCN’s. Instead of
denying for incorrect BIN’s or PCN’s, these claims processed and will appear on
R/A’s with explanatory messages.
Reports show that the majority of the chains are submitting
correct BIN and PCN data, but approximately 50% of the independent providers
submit invalid data in one or both of these fields.
Providers submitting incorrect data will see the following
message codes appear on their Remittance Advices.
Message Code 709 --
MISSING/INVALID BIN NUMBER
Message Code 752--
MISSING/INVALID PROCESSOR CONTROL NUMBER
In the near
future, the Program will be announcing that these explanatory message codes
will be changed to deny reasons. You are urged to review your R/A’s to ensure
that you are submitting the correct BIN and PCN’s.
PLEASE
contact your software vendor if you are unable or unsure how to correct these
errors.
