PA RX PRICEFINDER
On July 22nd, the
Commonwealth unveiled a website to permit the public to access usual and
customary billing information. This website, www.parxpricefinder.com, enables
consumers to shop around and get the best price for their medications. While not every prescription medication can
be found on the website, most of the more commonly used medications are
available. The usual and customary
billing data is updated weekly using the paid claims information from the
previous week..
This website also provides
consumers with links to several other websites that provide relevant
educational materials on prescription medication selection and
utilization. Website users are
encouraged to provide input for evaluation purposes. A number of comments came
from independent pharmacies accessing the website who wanted their customers to
know they would match the prices of their competition.
To accommodate this request, the
Department will be modifying the website to include the phrase, “Pharmacy has price matching policy. Ask
for details.”
