Employment Opportunities

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation anticipates 50-60 vacancies for Civil Engineer Trainees throughout the state.
 

Type of Work
 
Employees participate in a 12-15 month on-the-job training program to develop proficiency in the use of civil engineering knowledge, skills, and abilities.  Instruction is given in different areas of the Department of Transportation such as design, construction, and maintenance.

11 engineering districts across the state and in the central office in Harrisburg.
 

Starting Salary

Effective July 1, 2012, the salary is $49,545 for the training period.   After successful completion, you are promoted to a Civil Engineer position at a higher salary.
