Employment Opportunities

The Department of Conservation and Natural Resources has a total of 10 openings for summer lifeguards. Opportunities are in the counties listed below.

Please note that when designating the type of employment sought on the application, it is imperative that applicants indicate seasonal availability.

Type of Work

Lifeguards perform public safety work at State Park swimming areas throughout the Commonwealth. You will patrol and survey the swimming areas to prevent swimmers from endangering themselves or others; enforce park rules and regulations; rescue swimmers in distress; and perform related maintenance and custodial duties.

Candidates must possess a valid American Red Cross Lifeguard Training Certificate; or a valid YMCA Lifeguard Training Certificate; and a valid American Red Cross Community First Aid and Safety Certificate; or any combination of valid certificates in standard first aid and adult, child and infant CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation).

Location

Opportunities exist in Franklin, Lackawanna, Luzerne, and Perry counties.

Starting Salary

Lifeguards currently earn $10.25/hour in through June 30, 2013. Lifeguards will earn $10.30/hour, effective July 1, 2013.
