June 13 WILD About Bears Teacher Workshop, Hawk Mountain, Kempton; 9a-3p
In partnership with the Hawk Mountain. $10 per Educator - receipts available. Registration required. Limited to 20 participants. Designed for K-12 grade educators. Focuses on many aspects of black bear management in Pennsylvania. Participants will learn hands-on about where bears live, what they eat, how to identify bear sign, and how the Game Commission manages bear populations. Participants will see how bears are live-trapped and may have a live black bear to process and release. Participants will receive educational materials and lesson plans to teach students about black bear management. Act 48 approved. Light breakfast provided. July 25 WILD About Raptors Teacher Workshop, Hawk Mountain, Kempton; 9a-3p
Presented by Hawk Mountain. $10 per Educator - receipts provided. Registration required. Limited to 20 participants. Designed for K-12 educators, this workshop will cover activities on adaptation, natural history, and conservation status of raptors. Live raptor program followed by time outdoors to build raptor watching and identification skills. Dress for the indoors and weather outside, and carry a day pack with bag lunch and bottled water. Complimentary light breakfast will be provided. Participants receive curriculum guide and Act 48 hours.
