Red Elderberry
Sambucus racemosa
DESCRIPTION:
Native shrub growing 6 to 10 feet. Numerous large clusters of creamy white flowers in April and May. Most common to cool, moist, rock wooded area and ravines. Partial shade preferred but can grow in full sun. Clusters of bright red berrylike fruits in June are highly sought after by songbirds.

Seedlings are 1 year old, 6 to 30 inches (avg. 16).
