| Description |
Adult Education: Classroom instruction is designed to improve the literacy skills of adults (age 16 or older) in order to enhance their roles as citizens, workers and family members. PA Certified instructors work with students to set goals that include GED attainment, obtain or retain employment and/or postsecondary education placement. Southwest Corner Even Start: The goal of this program is to improve the literacy of all family members while promoting parent involvement in a child’s education as the child’s first and most important teacher. Designed for families with at least one adult with an education need and a child under the age of 8, this home visitation program provides services in four areas: 1) Adult Education: GED/employment/improved literacy; 2) Early Childhood Education: school readiness/school success; 3) Parent Education: effective parenting; 4) Interactive Literacy Activities: families learning together. |
